Wild About Teaching!!! â€‹

A teacher for >20 years!

I am obsessed with growing different varieties of lavender!  I currently grow more than 90 cultivars.

With a biology education, I set out to learn every dimension of lavender science I can find.  I even wandered over to the Alps in Provence, France the last two summers to try to study lavender's growth habits in the wild!

I am also researching sustainable lavender farming. I have impletmentable ideas for diversifying farms.

I educate people to celebrate lavender's diversity and empower new growers to plant and harvest their own elegant flowers!

I Grow > 90 Cultivars of Lavender

The Evolution and Diversity of the Genus Captivates Me
Did you know the Genus Lavandula has ~ 47 Species?
It grows in the wild in the Mediterranean.

It is in the Lamiaceae Family, which means its related
to mint, sage, thyme and rosemary.

This is the type of stuff I spend my spare time geeking out about.
I go to conferences, read books and articles, talk to experts, listen to podcasts, make my own observations, and take classes, so I can learn about and then teach things like this.

Mom's Lavender

My mom's exquisite 20 year old lavender plant!  It has thrived at 3000 ft (914 m) in volcanic soil in a mixed conifer forest in Northern California.  This is actually a natural habitat for this species of lavander, Lavandula angustifolia.
